Dear Nicky (or is it Father Nicky)
Somehow or other I connected with your blog. I was particularly impressed that you mentioned Fr Tony Egar. I say this because I thought that I had a vocation back in the 1950s and even moreso I wanted to become a Passionist Priest after attending a retreat at my school. I went to St Ives (I don't know if it still exists) at the ripe old age of 13. I was officially referred to as "the junior", being the youngest. Another member of the intake at the time was Tony Egar whose elder brother, as you probably know was a priest in Adelaide. However, Nicky, I developed problems. I could put up with the poverty requirement. The meals were supurb and everything else was provided. I could put up with the obedience.
However I knew that I would have problems putting up with the other requirement. Now, with children, grandchildren and 3 ex wives and at the age of 66, chastity is a gift.
Nicky, I have had problems with my faith. I have seen priests leave, Including Passionist priests, and yet I yearn to have that faith back. I read your blogs and know that you are a sincere person who has absolute faith. How do I get that back.
My sincere regards to you
Allan

Dear Nicky,
I have been reading your blog since stumbling upon the Passionist's site last night and I feel really encouraged in my Christian walk as a young person in Melbourne. You love for God is inspiring and it is great to see someone so willing to live for God through Holy Orders. I'd love to speak with you more.

Keep care & God bless, Mat.
